Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
(See Police Gazette, 1886, page 126.) Walter Thicker, alias George Henry Marshall, charged on warrant with failing to support his wife and child, has been arrested by Constable John Cullinane, Masterton Police, and remanded to Wellington.
Plenry Bennett is charged, on warrant issued by the Timaru Bench, with deserting his wife and two children, at Timaru, since October last. Description: English, a tinsmith, about thirty-eight years of age, about sft. 6in. or 7in. high, medium build, fair complexion, brown hair beard whiskers and moustache ; generally wears dark clothes. He came to Wellington, and was employed until recently at the Gear Meat-works. His wife and children are in destitute circumstances.
