Rewards
The sum of £5 16s. each has been awarded to Constables Alexander McGilp and Edward Lamb, Russell Police, for the arrest of four seamen who deserted from the barque “ Petrel.”
The sum of £3 each has been awarded to Constables D. Gordon and C. Hogg, Whangarei and Kamo Police, in recognition of their services in connection with the detection and prosecution of Richard Joyce, fined £2O and costs for sly grogselling. A quantity of liquor seized by the constables was also forfeited.
The sum of £5 has been awarded by Mr. William Evans, of Otapiri Flat, to Constable Hugh Mulholland, Winton Police, in recognition of his exertions in endeavouring to trace the sheep stolen from Mr. Evans by the offender, Frederick Popenhagen.
The sum of £3 has been awarded to Constables Patrick Bowman and Charles Lot Daubney, Lawrence Police, in recognition of the tact and zeal shown by them in connection with the detection and prosecution of Hessy Carson, fined £ls and costs for sly grog-selling.
