Rewards.
The sum of £2 2s. has been awarded by the manager of the Colonial Bank, Dunedin, to Detective Alexander Henderson, Dunedin Police, for having promptly and effectively arranged for a watch to be kept on property which it was supposed would have been fraudulently removed and disposed of. The sum of £2 has been awarded by the Otago Acclimatisation Society to Acting-Sergeant Christopher Conn, Palmerston South Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the detection and prosecution of William and John Boss, fined £1 and costs each for spearing trout in Shag Valley River. The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Sergeant Percy F. Carlyon, Woodville Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the seizure of three barrels of beer, a jar of rum, and seven bottles of brandy, found on the premises of Reuben Harris and John Kirby. The liquors were confiscated and disposed of. Also for the prosecution of John Hunter, fined £lO and costs, or in default one month’s labour, for sly grog-selling. The sum of £3 has also been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable Edward Barry, Woodville Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the seizure of the beer and spirits found on the premises of Reuben Harris and John Kirby. The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable James Siddells, Ormondville Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the prosecution of Joseph Kuhtze, fined £2O and costs for sly grog-selling.
