Rewards,
The sum of £1 Is. has been awarded by the Royal Insurance Company to Sergeant Michael Scanlan, Picton Police, in recognition of his prompt services in securing the attendance of an important witness at the inquiry relative to the burning of a billiard-table, &c., at Kaituna Valle}'', the property of Mr. John Mois Dickson.
The sum of ss. has been awarded by Mr. A. Shepheard to Constables Timothy O’Connor and William Watt, Lyttelton Polico, for the recovery of his dog.
The sum of £1 has been awarded to Sergeant Andrew Clarke and Constables Edward Mackay and Luke McDonnell, Auckland Police, for preventing the crew from deserting from the ship “ Grassmere.”
The sums of £3 and £2 respectively have been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constables Michael Keenan and Maurice Duggan, Milton Police, in recognition of their services in connection with the detection and prosecution of Charlie Fook, fined £lO and costs for sly grog-selling, and £1 and costs for keeping liquor for sale in unlicensed premises.
