Stealing Otherwise than from the Person or from Dwellings.

(See Police Gazette, 1885, page 139.) John Alexander Gordon, charged on warrant with stealing a spring-cart, at Carterton, the property of Thomas Watson, has been arrested by Constable Maurice Roach,

Paikakariki Police, and committed for trial. The cart has been recovered.

Stolen on the 2nd or 3rd instant, from a garden at Constitution Hill, Auckland, a spade, partly worn, a crack in back of iron; and a garden-fork with a piece of tin nailed on front of handle; the property of James Howell; value 10s. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 14th ultimo, from Ivarangahape Road, Auckland, a small two-wheeled hand-truck, nearly new, “ New York, No. 1,” branded on both handles ; the property of George B. Boulton ; value £1 Is. Identifiable.

A man, only known as George, is charged with stealing, on the 4th instant, from Helensville, three kerosene tins containing fat, value £1 10s., and a carving knife and fork with black handles, value ss. ; the property of Joseph Flood. Description: A native of London, a cook, about twenty-nine years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, medium build, fair complexion, Jewish cast of features, small light side-whiskers and moustache; wore dark coat and black cap with peak. He left Helensville on the morning of the 4th instant by train for Auckland.

Stolen on the 29th ultimo, from a shed at Ellerslie, Auckland District, a dark-coloured steeple-chase hogskin saddle, about half-worn, a small hole in one of knee-pads showing the striped-serge lining on inside, one stirrupleather broken and iron off ; the property of Robert Thorp ; value £4.
