Edward Lewis, better known as Ted Lewis, is charged, on warrant issued by the Dargaville Bench, with having, on the 27th June last, at Auckland, forged the name of Michael Malone to a telegram to Mrs. A. McManus, of Helensville, asking her to forward him £4. Description : A native of the colonies, a bushman, twenty-five years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, medium build, sallow complexion, dark hair, dark scrubby beard whiskers and moustache ; slightly deaf ; wore blue-serge suit and black hard felt hat. Mrs. McManus was the bailee of money belonging to Michael Malone, and on receipt of the telegram forwarded a money-order telegram for the amount, which the offender received and cashed. He is supposed to be at Helensville.

A man, named Pink, is charged, on warrant issued by the Waipawa Bench, with having, on the 24tli ultimo, at Waipawa, obtained £5 from Edward Good by false representations. Description : English, a carpenter and draughtsman, twenty-three years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, slight build, sallow complexion, dark hair, small beard whiskers and moustache; wore brown-tweed coat and grey-tweed trousers and vest. He is supposed to have gone towards Seventymile Bush. A man answering his description left Woodvillo on the 2Gth ultimo for Palmerston North.

A man, name unknown, is charged with having, on the 29th ultimo, at Sydenham, obtained from Thomas Willis, by false pretences, a pair of ladies’ plain kid boots, size 6, value 145.; a pair of ladies’ plain kid boots, damaged, size 5, value Bs.; and a pair of girls’ elastic-side boots, size 10, value Bs. Damaged pair identifiable. Description: Supposed English, looks like a clerk, about thirty years of age,

very dark thin features, longish black beard and whiskers; wore black cloth frock-coat buttoned across chest, small elastic-side boots, and small black hard felt hat with brim turned up ; appeared to have been drinking ; speaks quickly.

Between 6 p.m. on the 22nd and 9 a.m. on the 25th ultimo, at North Invercargill, twelve macrocarpa-trees, the property of James Holland, were maliciously cut and broken, thereby damaging them to the value of £3.

On the 24th or 25th ultimo, at North Invercargill, thirteen macrocarpa-trees, two box-trees, and two insignis, the property of William Henry Bowen, were maliciously cut and damaged to the extent of £2.

Between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the Ist instant, at New Plymouth, nine panes of glass, value 11s. 3d., were maliciously broken in the window of a stable; the property of the New Plymouth Borough Council.

Between 6 and 8 p.m. on the 2nd instant a pane of glass, value 55., was maliciously broken in a window of the railway-station at Kurow, near Oamaru; the property of the Government.

Joseph Judge is charged, on warrant issued by the Supreme Court, Christchurch, with being about to leave the colony, with a view of defeating and delaying proceedings against him under “The Bankruptcy Act, 1883.” Description: A native of Ireland, late an hotelkeeper at Tai Tapu, near Christchurch, about forty-five years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout build, fresh complexion, brown beard whiskers and moustache tinged with grey. He served for a number of years in the Canterbury Police Force.

A man, who gave his name as John Mcßae, which may be a fictitious name, is charged, on warrant issued by the Gisborne Bench, with having, on the 26th May last, at Gisborne, obtained board and lodging, value £3, from E. P. Joyce, by means of a valueless cheque. Description: Scotch, a station-cook, about forty years of age, about 5 feet 9 inches high, round features, brown hair, full bushy brown beard whiskers and moustache, very talkative, plausible manner, broad Scotch accent. He left Gisborne for Napier, and said he was well known at Edenham and Wairoa.

William Henry Holland is charged, on warrant issued by the Gisborne Bench, with having, on the 22nd ultimo, at Makaraka, uttcred'a forged cheque on the Bank of New South Wales, Gisborne, to George Pitcher. Description: A native of England or the colonies, a bushman and carter, between thirty-four and thirty-eight years of age, about 5 feet 11 inches high, slight upright active figure, thin sallow face,

fair hair beard whiskers and moustache, a front tooth out or a wide division between front teeth, military appearance. On the 22nd ultimo he received a cheque for £5 from Walter P. Hamon in payment for a mare and foal, and on the same day uttered the cheque, altered to £ls, to George Pitcher, by whom it was cashed. Ho is supposed to have gone to the East Coast or Napier.

On the 23rd ultimo, at Parapara, near Pungarehu, two branches were maliciously broken off an apple-tree in the garden of Charles Hill, thereby damaging it to the extent of 2s.
