England. —William Barker is charged, on warrant issued in London, with larceny and forgery. Description: Yorlcshireman, analyst, 5 feet 5 or G inches high, thin build, dark sandy hair, rather high and receding forehead, light eyes, usually wears spectacles, regular nose of medium size, small mouth, oval face, fair complexion, sandy straggling beard, sandy moustache, rather shabby and untidy about neck, walks quickly with slight stoop and swinging of arms, has a peculiar and somewhat sly expression; when last seen in London wore a dark-tweecl suit and blue ribbon in buttonhole. Was assistant-analyst to the Home Department at Somerset House, London, on the Ist November, 1883. He absconded at the time named with about £l9O worth of gold, and after having committed four distinct acts of forgery. He is now believed to be in Australia, as he posted a letter in Melbourne on the 10th February, 1884.
