Missing Friends.

Information is requested respecting William Henry King, a native of Scotland, a hatter by trade, about fifty-five years of age; and of his wife Gertrude King, a native of Lancashire, thirty-nine years of age. They left Melbourne in 1867 for this colony. They are inquired for at the instance of M. M. Dillon, Port Pirie, South Australia.

(See Police Gazette, 1885, page 130.) Patrick Cavanagh has been found. He is now residing at Stoney Creek, Palmerston North.

Information is requested respecting George Benfell, a native of England, a labourer, twenty-six years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, medium build, thin features, dark brown eyes, brown hair, sandy beard whiskers and moustache, shoulders inclined to be stooped. He left Dunedin in February last, saying that he was going to look for employment.

Information is requested respecting Patrick Corbett, a native of Ireland, a shepherd and station-hand, about fifty years of age, 5 feet 6 inches high, medium build, grey hair, straggling whiskers and moustache; wore old torn grey coat and dirty - coloured moleskin trousers; dirty appearance ; talkative, and fond of drink. He left Masterfcon on the 23rd

or 24th ultimo, and is supposed to have gone in the direction of Hawke’s Bay in search of employment on a station, and had two black-and-tan sheep-dogs with him. He is inquired for in order that he may be proceeded against for the support of his wife and three children, who are destitute.

Information is requested respecting John Neill, a native of Ireland, a labourer, forty-five years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout corpulent appearance, fresh complexion, light hair, no hair on face except a few straggling hairs on chin; wore old dark-cloth coat and moleskin trousers. He left Masterton on the 28th July last, saying that he was going towards Mar ton to look for work on the railway-line there. He is fond of drink, and may be found at an hotel. He is inquired for so that he may be proceeded against for the support of his wife and three children, who are being supported by the Benevolent Institution.

Information is requested respecting David Buff ell, who formerly worked for James Bentley and Co., Manchester, England. No further particulars supplied.

Information is requested respecting Alfred Carpenter, a clerk, twenty-three years of age, about 5 feet high, slight build, sallow complexion, dark hair. He arrived at Port Chalmers by the ship “ Palala,” in February, 18S1. Before leaving England he resided with his uncle, W. Carpenter, West Green Lodge, Tottenham. He is inquired for at the instance of Edwin Carpenter, Kent House, Nortlifleet, Kent.

Information is requested respecting John Watts, a native of Mil ton-under-Wychwood, Oxford, England, a labourer, thirty-seven years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, fresh complexion, brown hair, proportionate build. He left Milton-under-Wynchwood in November, 1874, and, it is said, came to Wellington, where he was followed by his wife and family. Inquiries have been made at Wellington, but neither he nor his family can be heard of. He is inquired for at the instance of the Deputy Chief Constable, Oxford.

Information is requested respecting Stephen Fryer, who is missing from Nelson since the 27th ultimo. Description : A native of Birmingham, England, a clerk, twenty-five years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, broad shoulders, ruddy complexion, small moustache; when last seen wore speckledtweed coat and vest, dark-grey striped-tweed trousers, all tight-fitting, and greyish-tweed soft hat. He arrived in Wellington in January, 18S3, and has been employed by Mr. E. W. Mills and William Waring Taylor, ironmongers. He had been about five months at Nelson. It is supposed he is slightly deranged.

Information is requested respecting Agnes Bussell, who is missing from her residence in King Street, Dunedin, since the 7th instant. Description: A native of Hawkesbury, Otago, twelve years of ago, short for her age, very stout build, very fresh complexion, brown hair cut short, blue eyes, mark of scar on left side of nose. She is inquired for at the instance of her mother. It is suspected that she has been taken away by her father, James Bussell, against whom her mother has a judicial separation and custody of the girl. James Bussell, of whom information is also requested, is a native of Scotland, a farmer, road-contractor, &c., forty-five years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair, reddish-brown beard whiskers and moustache. He was seen driving a milk-cart about six weeks ago in George Street, Dunedin. He is inquired for with a view of proceedings being taken against him for the abduction of the girl if it can be proved that he took her away.

Information is requested respecting the antecedents of Charles King Boyd, alias Lancelot Loraine-Laurie, who it is said served a sentence in this colony four years ago. Description : A native of Victoria, a clerk, twenty-three years of age, 5 feet G inches high, 10 stone 2 lb. weight, brown hair, and blue eyes; hard of hearing.
