The sum of £3 3s. has been awarded in equal proportions to Sergeant William Hanlon and Constables Henry Porter, Frederick Beattie, Daniel Bogue, and George Cowen, Port Chalmers Police, for placing absentee seamen on board the steamer “ Aorangi,” and preventing the crew from deserting.
The sum of £6 has been awarded to Constable Joseph Stanley, Timaru Police, for the arrest of two deserters from the barque “ Deva.”
