Stealing Otherwise than from the Person or from Dwellings.

Stolen on the 18th or 19th ultimo, from the forecastle of the barque “Tymon,” at the Queen’s Wharf, Wellington, a pair of knee sea-boots, a pair of dark-tweed trousers, and a pair of -woollen socks; the property of Soren Sorensen ; value £2. Identifiable except socks. Suspicion attached to a man, name unknown, who was on board the barque on the evening of the 18th ultimo. Description : Supposed English, a sailor, thirty years of age, 5 feet 8 or 9 inches high, stout build, full sandy board whiskers and moustache.

Stolen about the 27th January last, from the Wallacetown Junction Railway Siding, Southland, a bale addressed “J. Grieve & Co., Storekeepers, Wallacetown,” containing five pairs of new white blankets; the property of Brown, Ewing, and Co ; value £5.

Seafortli Highlanders ” on blue ribbon under crest, envelopes to match, stamped in a similar manner; a book entitled “ Maori Land,” a book entitled “ Ups and Downs of Colonial Life,” a map of New Zealand, a map of Oceania, a book entitled “Life of Colonel Burnaby,” an account-book with RAF in gold letters on back, and a letter of credit for £IOO on Cook and Co., Sydney, from Cook, of London; the property of Richard A. Fraser. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 9th or 10th ultimo, from a paddock off Lyddle Street, Invercargill, a medium-sized galvanized-iron buckot|; the property of Hugh Hunter; value 4s. Identification doubtful.

Stolen between the 4th and 16th ultimo, at the Wallacetown Junction Railway Crossing, Southland, a 571 b. box of raisins, branded JG over W ; and about 81b. of currants; tho property of James Grieve and Co.; value £1 18s. 3d.

Stolen on the 17th ultimo, from off a horse at Whenuakura, Taranaki, a nearly-new bridle with steel bit, one of bars broken, WE marked with a pen-knife on inside of forehead-band, throat-strap partly chewed; the property of William Fulton; value ss. identifiable. Maoris suspected,

Stolen between the 17th and 25th February last, from on board the steamer “ Tekapo,” at Port Chalmers, a case with steel clasp, with Dr. Watson’s name engraved thereon, containing the following surgical instruments : Six knives, various sizes, straight and curved, and some of them with two blades; an artery forceps, a pair of dressing forceps, a pair of scissors, a gum lancet, a probe, a probe-pointed bistoury, a sharp-pointed probe, curved surgical needles, assorted ; some silk thread and silver wire ; the property of Dr. Arthur Watson ; value £5. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 14th and 16th ultimo, from tho orchard of Simon Andrews, at Huirangi, Taranaki District, about 7cwt. of apples ; value £3.

Stolen on the 19th or 20th ultimo, from the yard of Edward Cartwright, Mount Eden, Auckland, two duck-wing game roosters, and a black-rod game pullet, about two months old; value £1 each. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 25th February last, at Wangaehu, Wanganui District, a silver lever hunting- watch, maker Croftley, London, supposed number 13228, a common steel guard, fetter-link pattern, and a watch-key with “ S. H. Drew ” in raised letters thereon, attached; the property of Charles Wilson Burdon ; value £9. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 22nd February last and the 21st ultimo, on board the ship “ Connaught Ranger,” between London and Port Chalmers, a dark-grey tweed singlebreasted walking-coat, dark lining, a breast-pocket and two side-pockets with flaps, “Cleary, maker, Dublin,” supposed marked thereon; the property of Thomas Williams; value £1 10s. Identifiable.

Stolen between the 13th and 17th ultimo, from a box in the forecastle of the steamer “ Koranui,” between Greymouth and Lyttelton, a silver lever hunting-watch, maker supposed to be McMahon, Strabane, Ireland, No. 28347, “Thomas Gardiner” scratched neatly on back under keyhole, and a silver chain, close-link pattern, with two threepenny pieces, attached ; the property of John Murphy ; value £7. Identifiable. Suspicion attached to Adam Skinner, who was a steerage passenger by the steamer from Greymouth to Lyttelton. Description: Supposed English, a boilermaker, between forty and forty-five years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, dark hair, cleanshaved except dark moustache and goatee ; dressed in dirty tweed coat and trousers, and black soft felt hat. He went to Christchurch.

Stolen on the 12th ultimo, at Featherston, a bullock-hide saddle, leather reversed, in good order but considerably worn, single flaps, branded B inside flap at pommel, common flat stirrup-irons, a soldiers’ cross-belt for girth, and a common bridle with round buckles and plain iron snaffle-bit; the property of William Buckridge ; value £7. Identifiable.

Stolen on the 14th or 15th ultimo, from a washhouse on the premises of Thomas Martin, High Street, Dunedin, a pair of men’s elastic-side boots, size 8, small round-headed nails in soles, had only been worn on two occasions; value 15s. Identifiable.

Between the 21st and 23rd ultimo, a shed at the new High School, Arthur Street, Dunedin, was broken into, and a heavy round brass tap, value £2, the property of the Government, stolen. Identifiable.
