Incendiarism.
On the morning of the 12th ultimo, at the Maori Beserve, near Biverton, three stacks of oats, the property of James Gilmour, were maliciously set on fire, by which they wcro destroyed. The stacks were insured in the Victoria Office for £SO, which amount is considerably more than they were worth.
On the 12th ultimo, at Urenui, Taranaki, two stacks of wheat, the property of Paul Bell and John Honeyfield, were destroyed by fire, which it is supposed was maliciously caused. At an inquest held on the 19th ultimo to inquire as to the cause of the origin of the fire an open verdict was returned. The stacks were insured in the Victoria Office for £IOO, which amount is largely in excess of what they were worth.
About 9.30 p.m. on the 10th ultimo, at Wyndham, an attempt was made to set fire to the body of a dray, the property of John Meikle. It was saturated -with kerosene oil, and some straw placed under it, and the straw set on fire.
