Extract from London Police Gazette.

(From Gazette, 28th November, 1884, page 7.)

£3 Reward. —Missing, since the 4th October, S. Harris, of Motcombe, Shaftesbury. He was traced to Tavistock, where it has been ascertained he inquired for Okehampton. Before leaving home he wanted to go to New Zealand or else with the Ordnance Surveyors, and if he fails in his purpose it is thought probable he might enlist. Height, 5 feet 2J inches, fresh complexion, light-brown hair, and blue eyes. His name, “ S. Harris,” is tattooed on his arm, together with other marks. When last seen was wearing a hard felt hat, light-brown trousers, mixed waistcoat, dark jacket, and strong lace-up boots. Any information to be sent to Superintendent Haines, Shaftesbury, by whom the reward will also be paid.
