Miscellaneous Information.
Promotion. Acting Sergeant-Major Thomas McMillan, No. 1031, to bo Sergeant-Major. Resignation. Constable Alfred John Sisam, No. 119. Rewards. The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Detective Austin Kirby, Timaru Police, in recognition of his praiseworthy conduct in effecting the arrest of John William Crabtree, committed for trial at Christchurch on two charges of horse-stealing and four of larceny.
The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable David Latimer, Ashburton Police, in recognition of the vigilance and courage displayed by him in connection with the arrest of Henry Dudley, committed for trial on two charges of breaking and entering.
The sums of £5 10s. and £5 have been awarded by the National Insurance Company to Inspector Samuel Goodall, Wellington Police, and Constable G. A. Tapp, Hawera Police, respectively, in recognition of their services in connection with the arrest and prosecution of James Alexander Suiter, sentenced at the Supreme Court, New Plymouth, in May last, to seven years’ penal servitude for arson.
The sum of £2 has been awarded to Constable Frederick Beattie, Port Chalmers Police, for the arrest of a deserter from tho ship “ Waitangi.”
(See Police Gazette , 1884, page 207.) Erratum. —Robert Manuel, sentenced at the sittings of the Supreme Court, Dunedin, on the 6th October last, to three months’ labour for larceny, was arrested by Constable Henry Fretwell, Gore Police, and not by Constable Thomas King.
