Stolen from the dwelling of David Thomas, Bute Street, Footscray, on the 10th instant, an oval gold brooch, leaf border, leaf and red stone in centre, with a likeness underneath, and 3s. 6d. in silver. —O. 4272, lltli July, 1884. — David Thomas’s larceny: A warrant has now been issued for the arrest of a man named Smith for this offence. He pledged the property at Black’s pawn office, Brunswick Street, Fitzroy. Description: About twenty-three years of age, 5 feet 6 or 7 inches high, clean-shaved, long eyelashes; dressed in light clothes and soft felt hat.—G. 4272, 21st July, 1874. David Thomas’s larceny : Complainant has received a letter from New Zealand, enclosing a £1 note, and informing him where his brooch was pawned. The letter is unsigned, but is believed to be from Smith ; it bears the Port Chalmers post-mark, dated the 19th August, 1884. —0. 4272, 9th September, 1884.
