Appointments as Constables. John Jacob Koster, No. 2609. George Cowen, No. 2610. Promotions.

Constable Edmond Villars, No. 75, to be Acting Third-class Sergeant. Third-class Constable Henry H. The sum of £5 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Acting Sergeant Thomas Livingstone, Dunedin Police, in recognition of his commendable ability in connection with the arrest and prosecution of James McFarlane, alias William Campbell, alias Edward Reynolds, alias Campbell, and James McNeill, sentenced at the late sittings of the Supreme Court, at Dunedin, to three years’ penal servitude and six months’ labour respectively for housebreaking.

The sum of £1 has been awarded to Constable John Bridgman, and the sum of 10s. each to Constables Walter B. Young and Robert William Lemm, Oamaru Police, for the arrest of three seamen for being absent without leave from the ship “ Dunedin.”

The sum of £1 each has been awarded to Constables Henry Porter, John Walton, Frederick Beattie, and William Henry Higgins, Port Chalmers Police, for the arrest of two deserters from the steamer “ Tongariro.”
