Appointments as Constables. Thomas Henry Hellyer Beddek, No. 2605. George Edwin Bowers, No. 2606. Robert McGregor Thompson, No. 2607. Resignation. Constable Edwin Curry, No. 1599.
Dismissal. Constable Henry Moore Calder, No. 825 Death. Constable William Clarke, No. 2196.
Rewards. The sum of £3 12s. 6d. each has been awarded to Constables Patrick McCormack and Thomas Drake, the sum of £1 each to Sergeant William Thomas Mason and Constables Timothy O’Connor and Thomas Joseph McCormack, and the sum of 15s. to Constable Patrick J. Herlihy, Lyttelton Police, for the arrest of two deserters from the steamer “ Aorangi,” and for attention to the steamer while at Lyttelton.
The sums of £2 and £1 respectively have been awarded to Constables John Madden and Joseph Albert McGrath, Wellington Police, for the arrest of three firemen for being absent without leave from the steamer “ Victory.”
The sum of £5 has been awarded to Constable Thomas Harvey, Port Ahuriri Police, for the arrest of a deserter from the ship “ Northumberland.”
The sum of £1 has been awarded by the Hawke’s Bay Acclimatization Society to Constable Thomas Leitch, Clive Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the prosecution of Robert Furze, fined £1 and costs for a breach of “ The Animals Protection Act.”
The sum of £1 has been awarded to Constable E. J. Lawliss, Hastings Police, by J. R. Elliott, for the recovery of a horse, saddle, and bridle, his property.
The sum of £2 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Detective Austin Kirby, Timaru Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the prosecution of Mark Christie, alias Thompson, sentenced at the late sittings of the Supreme Court, Timaru, to two years’ labour for forging and uttering a cheque for £49. About £25 of the money, and clothing, value about £4, obtained for the forged cheque, was recovered.
