(From Gazette, 1883, pages 417 and 418 ) Abolishing Sittings of District Court of Hawke’s Bay.

Governor. In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by “ The District Courts Act, 1858,” and of every other power and authority in this behalf enabling him, His Excellency Sir William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, doth hereby abolish the sittings of the District Court of Hawke’s Bay, as previously fixed and appointed. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three. THOMAS DICK.
Fixing Shooting Season for Native and Imported Game, License Fee, Jfc., Auckland District.

Governor. In exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 18S0,” and “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that pheasants and Californian and Australian quail may be taken or killed within the Auckland District, consisting of the Auckland Provincial District, excepting the Counties of Cook, Whakatane, Tauranga, East Taupo, and Wairoa, from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eightythree, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, both inclusive (subject nevertheless to the restrictions in the said Act mentioned). And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of thirty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each; and the Chief Postmaster at Auckland is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And Ido further notify that native game (except tuis) may be taken or killed within the said district from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, both inclusive. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this thirty-first day of March, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three. THOMAS DICK.

In exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “ The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that cock-pheasants and quail (excepting mountain quail) may be taken or killed within the Tauranga District, comprising the Counties of Tauranga, Whakatane, and East Taupo, from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eightythree, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eiglity-three, both inclusive. And I do further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of thirty shillings each, and that licenses to sell such game shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each ; and the Postmaster at Tauranga is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. And Ido further notify that native game (excepting tuis) may be taken or killed within the said district from the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, both inclusive. Fixing Amount of Fee for Licenses to sell Game, Taranaki District.

Governor. In exercise of the powers vested in me bj “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that licenses to sell game within the Taranaki District, consisting of the County of Taranaki, shall be issued on payment of the sum of five pounds each ; and the Postmaster at New Plymouth is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this second day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three. THOMAS DICK.

In exercise of the powers vested in me by “The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby notify that hares may be taken or killed within the district comprised within the County of Rangitikei from the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, to the thirtieth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and eightythree, both inclusive. And Ido further notify that licenses to take or kill such game within the said district shall be issued on payment of the sum of twenty-one shillings each; and the Postmaster at Marton is hereby appointed to issue the said licenses. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this second day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three. THOMAS DICK.
Fixing Shooting Season for Native Game, Kaikoura District,

Governor. In exercise of the powers vested in me by “ The Animals Protection Act, 1880,” and “The Animals Protection Act Amendment Act, 1881,” I, William Francis Drummond Jervois, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby appoint all that area comprised within the Counties of Kaikoura and
Amuri to be a district under the said Acts, to be called the Kaikoura District. And I do hereby notify that native game (excepting tuis) may be taken or killed within the said district from the first day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three. As witness the band of His Excellency the Governor, this second day of April, one thousand eight hundred and eighty-three. THOMAS DICK.
Clerks of Resident Magistrates' Courts, cf'e., appointed.
Department of Justice, Wellington, 2nd April, 1883. His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to appoint Constable Joseph Motley to be Clerk of the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Woodville, and also Clerk of the Licensing Committee for the District of Woodville, vice Sergeant O’Malley ; and Constable Henry Graham to be Clerk of the Resident Magistrate’s Court at Paeroa, and Clerk of the Licensing Committee for the District of Ohinemuii, vice Sergeant Russell.
