Offences Not Otherwise Described.
About 10 a.m. on the 13th ultimo Ellen McLeod was indecently assaulted by a man at Hafton, near Kaukapakapa,
Auckland. The offender was accompanied by another man. Identification doubtful. Suspicion attached to Frank Faulkner and Cecil H. Venns, who left a vessel at Helensville on the 10th ultimo. Description: Faulkner is a native of the North of Ireland, twenty-one years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, florid complexion, a large dimple in chin, a little hair on face; wore dark clothes and soft black-felt hat. Yenns is English, twenty years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, sallow complexion, long thin features, no hair on face ; wore dark clothes.
(See Police Gazette, 1882, page 23.) Alexander de la Roche, charged on warrant with having obtained goods and money from Samuel Meirs, at Wellington, by false pretences, has been arrested by Detective William L. Chrystal, Wellington Police, and discharged.

George Wilson, charged on warrant with having obtained money from James Quick Troon, at Invercargill, by false pretences, is 5 feet 11 inches high.
George Williams is charged, on warrant issued by the Christchurch Bench, with uttering a forged cheque for £8 on the Bank of New South Wales, Christchurch, purporting to be drawn by W. Howe and Co. to Angus TJrquhart, at Christchurch, on the 23rd ultimo. Description: Supposed English, about forty years of age, about 5 feet 8 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, black hair beard whiskers and moustache, red face, brandy-nose, said to be slightly pockmarked; dressed in dark suit and hard black-felt hat; respectable appearance. He purchased for £4 10s. from Mr. Urquhart a silver hunting American lever watch, No. 1227689, “A. M. Co., Broadway,. Waltham, Mass.,” on works, in payment for which he uttered the forged cheque. He also purchased a silver hunting American lever, No. 1854465, “Waltham, Mass.,” on works. He forged and uttered five other cheques on the same date at Christchurch.
Frank: McDonald is charged, on warrant issued by the Whakatane Bench, with having, on the 15th November last, at Whakatane, committed rape upon a Maori named Rahera. Description : Supposed Irish, a cattle-drover, thirty-five years of age, 6 feet 1 or 2 inches high, sharp features, light eyes, fair hair, light sandy whiskers and moustache ; dressed in grey saccoat, bedford-cord trousers, and soft white hat. He has been engaged as a drover between Whakatane and Thames for a number of years.

Henry Miehs, charged on warrant with embezzling money at Dunedin, the property of the Otago Daily Times and Witness Company, is at Melbourne, and frequents the theatres there. Unless he returns to the colony it is not advisable to execute the warrant, as the amounts embezzled are small.
A MAN, name unknown, is charged with having, about 9.30 p.m. on the 30th ultimo, at Maori Hill, opposite Bishop’s Court, near Dunedin, committed a rape upon Mary Williamson, aged sixteen years. Description : Between thirty and forty years of age, looked like a labourer, 5 feet 10 inches high, Btout build, dark hair, long black beard; dressed in black-cloth coat and vest, white-moleskin trousers, and soft black-felt hat. Identification doubtful.
A man, name unknown, is charged with having, about 5 p.m. on the 4th instant, at the Town Belt, near Dundas Street, Dunedin, attempted to commit a rape upon Sophia Tilbury, aged eight years. Description: About 5 feet 8 inches high, slight build; dressed in grey coat and black hat; carried a piece of stick in his hand. Identification doubtful. He went in the direction of the Botanical Gardens.
