Extracts from Victoria Police Gazette.

(From Police Gazette, 18S2, pages 310 and 317.) Stolen from the General Post Office, Melbourne, on the night of the 6th or morning of the 7th instant, a number of bags containing registered letters, a £5 note, Bank New South Wales, stamped on back “B- N. Dodd, Grazier, Linton six £5 notes, Commercial Bank, Nos. A 28949, 28950, 28951, 28952, 28953, 28954; three new £1 notes, London Chartered Bank, stamped on back “ Majorca, 6th November ; ” scrip certificates of Cnrisbrook United Company, Carisbrook, numbered from 2347 to 2385, representing 335 shares, made out in name E. Rowell, Melbourne. A warrant has been issued by the Melbourne Bench for the arrest of a man, name unknown, for this offence. He obtained gold for the six £5 notes on the Commercial Bank at the Bank of Australasia, Williamstown, on the 7th instant. Description : Twenty-five to thirty years of ago, 5 feet 11 inches high, medium build, dark complexion ; wore light clothing. Post Office Mail Robbery. —£loo Reward.— Whereas some person or persons, between the hours of 11 p.m. on Monday and 4 a m. on Tuesday, the 6lli and 7th November, 1882, feloniously removed from the General Post Office certain bags containing registered letters and packets, the property of the Postmaster General: Notice is hereby given that the above reward will be paid to any person giving such information as shall lead to the conviction of the offender or offenders.— J. M. Grant, Chief Secretary.—Chief Secretary’s Office, Melbourne, 10th November, 1882.
