Rewards
The sum of £5 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable Patrick Bourke, Whangarei Police, in recognition of the energy and perseverance shown by him in the detection and prosecution of R. L. Ruddle, William Lang, Charles Bishop, and Alexander McDonald, fined £BO 2s. and costs for sly grogselling.
The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable John Lyons, Mosgiel Police, in recognition of the zeal and intelligence Bhown by him in the prosecution of Henry Wiles, fined £lO and costs for sly grog-selling.
The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Constable Charles Bowden, Greymouth Police, in recognition of the zeal and tact shown by him in the detection and prosecution of Mary Morrissey, fined £2O and costs for sly grogselling.
The sum of £1 each has been awarded to Sergeant Henry Martin and Constable Luke McDonnell, Auckland Police, for the arrest of F. J. Dillmore, a deserter from the barque “Anazi.”
The sum of £1 each has been awarded to Segeant Charles Rutledge and Constable Francis Hood, Campbolltown Police, for the arrest of two seamen who deserted from the barque “ Electra,” at Bluff Harbour.
The sum of £1 has been awarded to Constable William Campbell, Wellington Police, for the arrest of Henry Meyer, a deserter from the ship “ Margaret Galbraith.”
The sum of £1 has been awarded to Sergeant Andrew Clarke, Auckland Police, for the arrest of a straggler from Her Majesty’s ship “Lark.”
The sum of ss. has been awarded by Messrs. Hogg, Howison, Nicol, and Co., to Constable John Power, Dunedin Police, in recognition of his vigilance in discovering their store-door insecure and securing it.
On the 28th ultimo, at North-east Belt, Christchurch, two panes of glass, value 65., were maliciously broken in a window of the dwelling of Stanley Briscoe Seymour, and an aloe plant, value 25., maliciously cut in his garden.
About 10 p.m. on the 10th instant a stone was maliciously thrown at a railway carriage, at Palmers! on North, which broke one of the carriage windows, value 10s., the property of the Government.
