The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Sergeant-Major Andrew Thompson, Oamaru Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the prosecution of S. Newey, fined £ls for selling drink in unlicensed premises.

The sum of £3 has been awarded from the Reward Fund to Special Constable Angus Ewen Livingstone, Stewart Island Police, in recognition of his services in connection with the prosecution of Caroline Denton, fined £25 and costs for ely grog-selling.

The sum of £3 has been awarded to Constable George Laurie, Wellington Police, for the arrest of William Webb, who deserted from Her Majesty’s ship “ Wolverene,” at Wellington.

The sirms of £8 and £7 respectively have been awarded by the National Bank to Sergeant Edward White and Constable Thomas Whelan, Tauranga Police, in recognition of their services in connection with the arrest and prosecution of William Henry Barfield, sentenced at late sittings of the Supreme Court at Auckland to four years’ penal servitude for attempted robbery with violence in the National Bank, Tauranga.

On the 9th ultimo, at Donnelly’s Creek, near Ross, a cow, the property of John Punch, was maliciously stabbed in the left side, supposed with a stable-fork.

During the night of the 29th August last the ropes which secured the punt at the ferry, Inangahua landing, the property of Frederick A. G. Archer, were maliciously cut, and the punt let adrift. The damage is estimated at about £SO.

During the night of the 9th ultimo, at Otepopo River, Otago, a whip was maliciously cut in several places, and four bullock-yokes, four bows, three rings, &c., the property of Hugh Reade, were maliciously thrown into a waterhole and damaged.

During the night of the 13th ultimo a buggy, the property of John Douglas, was taken out of the blacksmith’s shop of Joseph Cochrane at Hamilton East, and run over a steep bank into the river, breaking and damaging the buggy to the extent of £5.
