Frenchy, alias Georgia Tulieri, charged on warrant with obtaining goods and money from William Carter, at Inglewood, has been arrested by Serjeant John Donovan, Patea Police, and remanded to New Plymouth. He has been committed for trial for obtaining £3O at Patea by means of a valueless cheque.

A MAH', name unknown, is charged, on warrant issued by the Invercargill Bench, with obtaining, by false pretences, on the 30th ultimo, from Thomas Arthur, at the Railway Station, Invercargill, four bags of rabbitskins ; value £l2 13s. Description : Supposed English, about twenty-two or twenty-three years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, slight build, fair complexion, long features, very little hair on face, a small scab on one side of nose, small feet; wore old black coat, light-tweed trousers and vest, round black-felt hat, and supposed Wellington boots. Identifiable. He sold the skins at Messrs. Kingsland and Co.’s, Invercargill, on the same day.

The warrant issued by the Wellington Bench for the arrest of William McGee, for embezzling whiskey, the property of Edward James Stuart, on board the barque “ Berwickshire,” has been cancelled.-

John Beattie is charged with having, on the 12th instant, at Ettrick, Otago, assaulted and stabbed John Wilson, with intent to do grievous bodily harm. Description: A native of Ayrshire, Scotland, a labourer and rabbiter, twenty-six years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, stout square build, fresh complexion, brown hair, fair beard, whiskers, and moustache, down-cast look ; wore light-grey tweed suit, soft black-felt hat, and lace-up boots; carried a blue-blanket swag. He left his camp on the Spylaw Ranges on the night of the 12th instant, and it is supposed went in the direction of Lawrence or Tapanui. Warrant for his arrest to issue.

George Lttckhurst is charged, on warrant issued by the Dunedin Bench, with embezzling £1 125., at DunediD, between the 7th ultimo and sth instant, the money of John Muirhead, by whom he was employed carting coal and collecting accounts. Description : Supposed to be a native of the colony, a bootmaker by trade, twenty-four years of age, 5 feet 1 inch high, stout build, fair complexion, fair hair, a little fair hair on face ; usually dressed in old black-cloth coat, brown-printed moleskin trousers, soft black-felt hat, and yellow scarf. He has recently joined a Christy Minstrel Troupe as a comic singer, and was with the troupe at Mosgiel on the 9th instant. They went South.

Edwin Stead is charged, on warrant issued by the Port Chalmers Bench, with having, on the sth instant, at Port Chalmers, obtained goods and money, value £l, from Peter Hercus by means of a valueless cheque drawn on the Bank of New Zealand, North Dunedin. Description: Supposed English, about forty years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, medium build, light eyes, fair complexion, hair, whiskers, and moustache j wore light-grey tweed suit; active gentlemanly appearance, and good address. He said that he was an “ inspector,” and had walked from Dunedin.

A man, name unknown, is charged with having, between 1 and 4 p.m. on the 10th instant, exposed two obscene pictures to the view of Frances Otto, aged eleven years, and her sister, in the Botanical Gardens, Dunedin. Description: Supposed English, about thirty-six or thirty-seven years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache ; wore black-cloth suit, coat buttoned to throat, and soft black-felt hat. Identifiable.

W iliiam Hines is charged, on warrant issued by the Cambridge Bench, with having, on the 14th July last, at Horohoro, obtained £l3 Is. from Duncan Campbell by false representations. Description : Supposed English, a labourer (age not stated), 5 feet 6 inches high, inclined to be stout, fair complexion and hail’, sandy beard, whiskers, and moustache, good address, smart appearance; wore dark-striped-tweed coat and trousers, and black-felt hat. He left Cambridge about two months ago, and said that he intended to call upon a Mr Harris, who resides at Hamilton or Huntly.

Supposed to have gone to Wairoa North.
