Offences Not Otherwise Described.
J. A. Ponsonby is charged, on warrant issued by the Turakina Bench, with obtaining £1 2s. 6d. from Garrett Wilson, at Turakina, on the 17th June last, by means of a valueless cheque. Description : Supposed to be a foreigner, about fortyfive years of age, 5 feet 9 inches high, sallow complexion, long thin features, small sandy beard, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in brown-tweed suit, rather shabby, and white helmet. Takes sketches, very communicative, and fond of drink. The cheque, which was for £2, was drawn on the Bank of Australasia, Waipawa.
Henry Mercek is charged, on warrant issued by the Patea District Court, with evading the payment of his creditors, at Patea, about the 12th ultimo. Description : English, a carter, thirty years of age, 5 feet 10 inches high, stout build, full features and eyes, fair hair, whiskers, and moustache, roundshouldered. He is supposed to have left Wellington on the 17th ultimo by the schooner “ Josephiue” for Sydney.
A man, name unknown, is charged with having indecently exposed his person to Annie Chambers, in Park Terrace, Christchurch, about 4 p.m. on the Ist instant. Description : About thirty years of age, about 5 feet 10 inches high, erect gait, rather broad shoulders, reddish whiskers ; worn brown trousers, coat of a lighter colour, respectable appearance. Identifiable.
