Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Samuel John Hill (said to have assumed the name of Browne), a native of Australia, a bootmaker, thirty-two years of age, 5 feet 7 inches high, stout build, dark complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache. He was formerly in the Taranaki Militia or Defence Force. He left Wellington about two months ago, supposed for Opunake, accompanied by a woman who passes for his wife, and who has her daughter with her. He was lately divorced from his wife at Wellington.
Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Samuel Wallis, a native of Lincolnshire, a hydropathic doctor, thirty-four years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, very slight build, fair complexion, blue eyes, very fair hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache slightly darker than hair, large straight nose, small thin hands, swaggering gait, head slightly bent when walking ; when last seen wore black-cloth coat and vest, black-and-white-check trousers, dark-brown mackintosh overcoat with belt, and tall hat with deep black band; gentlemanly appearance. He was heard of by letter from Beaumont on the 30t.h ultimo. Ho may have gone to the Bluff, and thence by steamer to Sydney. Inqury is made for him at the instance of his wife.
Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of John Price, a native of Pillgwenlly, Newport, Monmouthshire, a seaman, forty-one years of age, about 5 feet 6 inches high, stout build, fair complexion, dark hair and beard. He left Newport on the sth August, 1861, by the ship “ Silver Cloud,” for Malaga, and was last heard of atGreymouth in February, 1871. Inquiry is made for him at the request of his mother, Elizabeth Price, 38, Jeddo Street, Pillgwenlly, Newport, Monmouthshire.
Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Charles James, English, a carpenter, fifty-two years of age, 5 feet 4 inches high, stout build, sallow complexion, blue eyes, dark-brown hair, beard, whiskers, and moustache turning grey. He was discharged from the gaol at Wellington on the 9th ultimo, and is supposed to have left town in search of employment. (See Police Gazette, 3881, page 128.) Inquiry is made for him at the request of his wife, who resides at the Thames.
Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Jeremiah Buckley, a native of County Cork, Ireland, a labourer, forty years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, medium build, swarthy complexion, dark hair, sandy beard, whiskers, and moustache, a cut on one of cheeks. He was working on the Waimea Rail-way-line near Gore, and left there about the Ist May last, supposed for Queenstown. Inquiry is made for him so that he may be proceeded against for the support of his wife and family, who are destitute at Invercargill.
Information is requested respecting the whereabouts of Benjamin Evans, a shipwright, fifty years of age, 5 feet 8 inches high, fair complexion, light-blue eyes, dark-brown haii’, whiskers of a lighter coloui\ He left New Milford on the 13th September, 1858, in the ship “ Prince Alfred,” and, before leaving, resided at Pembroke Dock, and w*as employed in Her Majesty’s Dockyard. In a letter, dated December, 1864, written from Singleton, he referred to the purchase of 23 acres of land at a place called “ Mangawai,” and also to the purchase of a suburban allotment of 5 acres 3 roods by the river, and that the deeds were in the Registrar’s Office at Auckland. He was heard of by letter from Hokitika, dated the 4th February, 1866, in which ho said that lie might return to Sydney. Inquiry is made for him at the request of William Hancock, butler at Picton Castle, Haverfordwest, South Wales.
