Horse and Cattle Stealing.
Supposed stolen during the night of the 25th May last, from the stable of Nathaniel Vale, North East Belt, Christchurch, a bay horse, black points, hack-breed, three years old, 15 hands high, unbounded, shod ; value £ls. Identifiable.

The chestnut saddle-mare, the property of Constable William Howell, reported stolen from a paddock at Kihikihi, has been recovered. Suspicion no longer attaches to John McCartie.
(See Police Gazette, 1881, page 101.) The bay horse, the property of John McDonald, reported stolen from Ngunguru, has been recovered.
Stolen during the night of the 20th ultimo, from White Cliffs, Canterbury, a well-bred dark-brown gelding, hack-breed, six years old, 16 hands high, small star on forehead, very small white snip on nose, hind fetlocks white, branded G on near shoulder, shod ; had on a flannel and jute rug, and an ordinary canvas cover; the property of Gordon H. M. McClure; value £4O. Identifiable.
