Deserting Wives and Families, &c.
John Brooks is charged, on warrant issued by the Masterton Bench, with disobeying a summons to appear at the Resident Magistrate’s Court, Masterton, on the 23rd instant, to give evidence in a case of larceny. Description: English, about thirty-five years of age, 5 feet 5 or 6 inches high, medium build, dark complexion, dark hair, whiskers, and moustache ; dressed in dark-tweed or serge coat, dark-moleskin trousers, and hard black-felt hat, erect gait; had been in the army. He left Masterton on the 22nd instant by train, supposed for Wellington, and will likely go from thence to Lyttelton.

; Mary Ann Shannon, alias Margaret Farrell, charged on warrant with habitual drunkenness, is at present employed at Mr. Flutine’s dairy farm, Paikakariki. It is not desirable that she should be arrested, unless she returns to Wellington.

Thomas Peter Gleeson, charged on warrant with deserting his wife at Hinds, has been arrested by Constable Thomas Loose, Geraldine Police.

Jeremiah Cronin, charged with deserting his wife and two children at Palmerston South, has been arrested by Constable Henry Frotwell, Mataura Police, and ordered to pay 12s. per week towards their support.

William Scott, charged on warrant with disobeying a summons to answer a charge of assault, &c., has been arrested by Constable Thomas Livingstone, Duntroon Police, and remanded to Palmerston South.
