Elizabeth Lee is charged, on warrant issued by the Reefton Bench, with stealing, about (he 25th January last, from a box in an outhouse at the Left Hand Branch, Inangahua River, a gold ring with buckle on top, and two gold studs ; the property of John Gilmer; value £2. Identifiable. Description : Irish, nineteen years of age, but looks older, hair nearly red, blue eyes, long features, freckled complexion ; wore darkmerino dress, plain straw hat, and black-cloth jacket; talkative and excitable. She was seen on the 21st ultimo, on the new track between Reefton and Maruia Plains, going towards Canterbury or Nelson in company with her husband, William Lee. Description : English, supposed to be a farmer, about thirty-five years of age, about 5 feet high, stout build, round features, fair hair, small sandy beard, whiskers, and moustache; wore light-tweed suit and black billycock hat.
Mary Carroll is charged, on warrant issued by the Oamaru Bench, with the larceny as a bailee, at Oamaru, between the 4th November last and the 24th ultimo, of two tables, a bedstead, a washstand, a toilet set, a clock, a lamp, twelve plates, three chairs, four tablecloths, a cruet-stand, two jugs, a large dish, a kettle, a fryingpan, a teapot, a stewpan, six cups and saucers, and sundry other articles; the property of Catherine Grant; value £4O. Identifiable. Description : Irish, a prostitute, nineteen years of age, about 5 feet 5 inches high, slight build, dark complexion and eyes. It is supposed she has gone to Woodhaugli, near Dunedin.
Supposed stolen between the 20th and 23rd ultimo, at Christchurch, a black leather portmanteau, about 20 inches long, 10 inches broad, and 8 inches deep, containing a red-and-white-plaid Crimean shirt, a pair of grey socks, and about twenty-five bottles of essence used in the manufacture of
cordial; the property of William Mack ; value £l4. Identifiable.
Stolen between the 17th and 20th ultimo, from the harnessroom of Alfred Edward Drain, Tuam Street, Christchurch, a nearly-new double-rein bridle, blue forehead band, and plain single-bit; value £1 109. Identifiable.
Stolen about the 21st ultimo, from on board the ketch “Palmerston,” at Dunedin, a blue-and-white cotton counterpane, a single blue blanket, two pairs of white-moleskin trousers, an old double-breasted black-cloth sac coat, two light-grey tweed rests, a pair of white-flannel drawers, a pair of white-cotton drawers, a white-flannel shirt, and a white-canvas hag; the property of Samuel Gardener; value £2 10s. Identifiable.
Stolen on the 24th ultimo, at Timaru, a nearly-new blueblanket swag, tied with cord at ends, containing a pair of whitecotton drawers, a black-woollen shirt, two pairs of strong whitekid gloves, and a dark-tweed vest with sundry documents in pockets; the property of Peter Darling ; value £3. Identifiable.
Stolen on the 18th ultimo, from a trap in Whatcley Road, Christchurch, a large malacca-cane whip-handle with whitemetal hammer head and large keeper with H. A. burnt thereon, long thong attached; the property of Robert D. McPherson ; value £l. Identifiable.
Stolen about the 26th ultimo, from the meat-safe of William Mitchell, Hawkestone Street, Wellington, a common yellow earthenware pie-dish, containing an apple pie ; value 4s.
Stolen on the 28th ultimo, from a stable at Bourne’s Farm, Makikihi, Canterbury, a yellow-leather pocketbook, about 5 by 3 inches, containing two £lO notes, supposed on the National Bank, a sovereign, a half-sovereign, and 6s. in silver; the property of James Anderson. Pocketbook identifiable. Suspicion attached to Thomas Robinson, who was employed in the stable. Description : English, about fourteen years of age, fair hair and -complexion.
Stolen between the 10th November last and the 26th ultimo, from a box on board the ship “ Pleiades,” between London and Lyttelton, thirteen yards of black-and-white silk with trimming to match, seventeen yards of washing drill, a strip of embroidery, a volume “Voyage of Sunbeam,” a doll, a hairbrush (makers, Bennett and Clefton), a bottle of eau do cologne, a pencil-case, and a set of silver ornaments, viz., cross, chain, and earrings; the property of William Smoult Robinson; value £l3.
Stolen during the night of the 27th ultimo, from the goldmining claim of Thomas Riddle, at Wealherstone, gold value 15s.
Stolen on the 27th ultimo, from the vest pocket of Robert John Weatherall, in a harvest-field at Lansdown, Canterbury, a ladies’ open-face Geneva watch, number and maker’s name not known, enclosed in a tin watch-case; a brass albert guard which had been washed with silver, which is partly worn off, •attached; value £l. Identifiable.
Stolen about the 28th ultimo, from a paddock at Lincoln Road, Christchurch, a nearly-new common iron pump, No. 3 size, maker Douglas; the property of William Morling; value £1 2s. 6d. Identification doubtful.
Stolen about the 28th ultimo, from the stable of William James Sherlock, at Hape Creek, Thames, a pair of common ger-man-silver stirrup-irons with round bottoms, a pair of stirrupleathers, a single-rein bridle, a new head-stall with throat strap fastened with copper rivets, a twisted green-hide girth well worn, and a tethering iron pin ; value £l. Identifiable.
Stolen about, the 24th ultimo, at Freeman’s Bay, a large wheelbarrow, military pattern, new kauri frame ; the property of Richard Mackay ; value 15s. Identifiable.

Stolen about the 29th ultimo, from the meat-safe of J. F. Watson, Albert Street, Dunedin, a piece of beef and a pie; value 6s.
Stolen on the 3rd instant, from the weighing-room at the Turakina Racecourse, a brown-paper parcel containing a pair of white cashmere riding pants, “ W. Edwards” written with ink on inside of waistband, and a pair of riding boots with steel springs in waist, maker Scott, Wanganui; the property of Edward Kelly ; value £6 10s. Identifiable.
Stolen about the 28th ultimo, from an outhouse at South Town Belt, Christchurch, about 12 feet square of carpet with brown, white, black, and green patches, considerably worn; 4 yards of salmon-and-green coloured oilcloth, 21 feet wide ; and 7 yards of black-and-green oilcloth, 2 feet wide; the property of Edward Campbell; value £2 19s. Identifiable.
