The sum of £l has been awarded to Constable William Walker, Otago Police, for the arrest of a seaman who deserted from the ship “ Hermione,” at Port Chalmers.

The sum of £9 has been awarded to Sergeant John Rooney, Palmerston South Police, for the arrest of three seamen who deserted from the ship “ Waipa,” at Port Chalmers.

The sum of £4 has been awarded to Constable Michael Naugliton, Helensville Police, for the arrest of a seaman who deserted from the ship “ Ben Nevis,” at Auckland.

The sum of £4 ss. Id. each has been awarded by the Customs Department to Detective George Jeffery and Constable Herbert Jones, Auckland Police, in recognition of their services in connection with the prosecution of Emma Watson, fined £2O 18s. and costs for having a quantity of smuggled whiskey, &c., in her possession, at Auckland.

The sum of £1 has been awarded to Constable Peter McDonald, Wellington Police, for the recovery of a purse containing £7, lost by David Smith, at Wellington.

About the 2nd instant, at Balclutha, four large panes of glass were maliciously broken in the windows of the Clutha newspaper office, the property of John Smith Fleming ; and about the same time a number of flowers, flower-pots, &c., were maliciously broken in his garden; damage to the extent of about £3 was done.

Oh the morning of the Ist instant a pane of glass, value 10s., was maliciously broken in one of the windows of the house of Hector Alexander, Stafford Road, South Dunedin.
