Incendiarism.
£SOO Reward.
Notice is hereby given that a reward of £SOO will be paid to any person wbo shall first give such information to the police as will lead to the arrest and conviction of any person or persons concerned in wilfully setting fire to premises in New Zealand. On the morning of the 30th ultimo the furniture factory of Kees William Walters, Kilmore and Chester Streets, Christchurch, was maliciously set on fire, by which it and contents, except the engine, were destroyed. Damage to the extent of £2,000 was done. The stock and building were not insured. It is supposed that tko place was set on lire from the outside.
About midnight on the 29tli ultimo the stable of Messrs. Dalgetty, Nichols, and Co., at the rear of their offices and stores, Cathedral Square, Christchurch, was maliciously set oil fire, which was discovered soon after, and extinguished before
much damage was done. A tin of kerosene oil, which was in a case in the yard, was found under the straw which was on fire in the stable.
Between 5 p.m. on the 29th and 8 a.m. on the 30th ultimo the wheelwrights’ workshop of Alexander Johnston, in Tuam Street, Christchurch, was maliciously set on fire, but the fire died out of its own accord without doing any damage.
