Season for Shooting l , etc., Imported Game in Picton

Cock-pheasants and Californian quail shall be open to be hunted, shot, taken, or killed, within the Electoral District of Picton, between the Ist day of May, 1879, and the 30th day of June, 1879, both days inclusive, but only between the hours of sunrise and sunset.

Season for Coursing Hares in Southland,

Hakes shall be open to be hunted (coursed, within the Counties of Southland, Fiord, Wallace, and Stewart Island, between the Ist day of May, 1879, and the 31st day of July, 1879, both days inclusive, but only between the hours of sunrise and sunset.

Season for Shooting, etc., Imported Game in the Counties op Grey and Inangahua Altered.

Cock-pheasants shall be open to be hunted, shot, taken, or killed, within the Counties of Grey and Inangahua, between the twenty-fourth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, and the thirtieth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, both days inclusive, but only between the hour of sunrise and sunset.

to be Clerk at Tapanui of the Resident Magistrate’s Court for the District of Clutba. J. Ballance, (for the Minister of Justice.) Additional Regulations under “The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867.” Hercules Robinson, Governor. Whereas under the authority of “ The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867” (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), certain regulations were made for the purposes of the said Act, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the thirtieth day of September, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-seven, and such regulations are now in force: And whereas by the said Act it is, among other things, enacted that it shall be lawful for the Governor, from time to time as may become necessary, to make such regulations as to the Governor seems expedient for imposing or prescribing any conditions and restrictions in respect to salmon or trout fishing: And whereas, for the purpose of protecting salmon, it is expedient that additional regulations should be made as hereinafter provided : And whereas certain regulations were made for the purposes of the said Act, and published in the Government Gazette of the thirtieth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine: How, therefore, I, Sir Hercules George Robert Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the hercinbeforo recited power and authority, and of every other pow and authority enabling me in that behalf under the said Act, do hereby revoke the said last-mentioned regulations published on the said thirtieth day of January, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine, and further do make the following regulations, that is to say,— 1. If any person shall by any means take or catch any salmon in any stream, river, or tidal water, he shall forthwith return such salmon alive to the stream, river, or tidal water in or from which the same was caught or taken. Any person knowingly and wilfully committing a breach of this regulation shall be liable to forfeit and pay such sum of money, by way of penalty, not exceeding one hundred pounds, as the Justices imposing such penalty shall think fit. The expression “tidal waters” has the like meaning as given to such expression in cerlain regulations made under “The Fish Protection Act, 1877,” and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the eleventh of April, one thousand eight hundred and sevenly-eight. 2. No person holding a license issued under the said lastmentioned regulations shall be deemed exempt from these or any other regulations in force under “The Salmon and Trout Act, 1867.” 3. These regulations shall be read as part of any existing regulations for the time being in force under the said Act, and, whenever any penalty shall be prescribed under any regulations in (orco under the said Act as aforesaid, it shall be lawful for the Justices imposing the same to order such part of the prescribed penalty to be paid as the Justices before whom the same shall be sought to be recovered shall think fit. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this sixth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine. J. Ballance, (in the absence of the Colonial Secretary.)

Fixing Sittings of District Court of Hawke’s Bay,

Hercules Robinson, Governor.

In pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in this behalf enabling me, I, Sir Hercules George Robert Robinson, Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings of the District Court of Hawke’s Bay shall be held as follows : In the Courthouse, Napier, for Criminal business, on the third Monday in February, May, August, and November in every year; and for Civil business on every Thursday; In the Courthouse, Gisborne, for Criminal and Civil business, on the third Thursday in March, June, September, and December in every year. Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as aforesaid shall happen to be a holiday, then the Court appointed for that day shall he holden on the first day thereafter not being a holiday. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this ninth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine. J. Ballance, (for the Minister of Justice.)

Fining Sittings of District Court of Wanganui, at Palmerston North.

In pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in this behalf enabling me, I, Sir Hercules George Robert Robinson, the Governor of the Colony of New Zealand, do hereby fix and appoint that sittings of the District Court of Wanganui, for Civil and Criminal business, shall be held as follows :

In the Courthouse, at Palmerston North, on the Saturday following the first Wednesday in each of the months of March, June, and November in every year. Provided that in case any of the days so fixed as aforesaid shall happen to be a holiday, then the Court appointed for that day shall be holden on the first day thereafter not being a holiday. As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourteenth day of May, one thousand eight hundred and seventy-nine.
