Sacrilege.
Stolen between 7 p.m. on the 22nd and 9 a.m. on the 23rd instant, from Saint Bartholmew’s Church, Kaiapoi, Canterbury District, two wooden eucharistic candlesticks, about 2 feet high ; two three-branch brass vesper lights, 2 feet high, joints at top can be removed; two brass altar vases, between lib. and I2 lbs. weight each, painted maroon colour on inside a brass cross recently cleaned with coarse powder by which it is scratched ; 2 dossels of damask cloth, maroon ground with yellow fleur-de-lis; and two crimson desk frontals, silk fringe, with needlework figure in floss silk beads and wire the property of the Rev. Herbert Edward Carlyon ; value £3O. Identifiable.
