Extract from “Queensland Police Gazette.”

(From Police Gazette, 4th July, 1877, page 87.) Deserters prom Her Majesty’s Service. Deserted from H.M. ship “Wolverine,” at Wellington, New Zealand, on the 4th May, 1877, James Coates Hemsley, ordinary seaman, native of Docksop, Notts, England, eighteen years old, 5 feet 2 inches high, light brown hair, brown eyes, fair complexion; and Thomas Frankling, cook’s assistant, a native of London, nineteen years old, 5 feet 3 inches high, dark hair, blue eyes, sallow complexion. A reward of £3 will be paid for the apprehension of each of these deserters; after three months, £2 ; after six' months, £1; and after twelve months, no reward, unless specially ordered. —12th June, 1877.

Charles Wentworth Bucknell charged, on warrant, with having stolen on the 6th of January last, at Burdekin River, Queensland, a bay mare, the property of David Walker, has been arrested by Detective Farrell, Wellington Police, and remanded, but was subsequently discharged at the request of the Commissioner of Police, Brisbane, as the charge was considered doubtful.

(From Police Gazette, 25th July, 1877, pages 203 and 205.) William Wylie, Scotch, a farmer, aged thirty-three years 5 feet 9 or 10 inches high, far complexion, brown curly hair, beard and moustache, and has recently lost a front tooth, is charged, on warrant issued at Adelaide, S.A., with bigamy at Port Augusta, on the 14th March last. He was in Melbourne sinde, but left for Launceston on the Ist May. He is believed to have contracted other bigamous marriages, and will continue to do so until arrested. Photograph at Detective Office, Melbourne, and at Hobart Town, Tasmania, and Christchurch, N.Z.—0.4571. 24th July, 1877.

Missing Friend.

Information is requested of James Neville, a native of Forns, county Limerick, thirty-two years of age, 5 feet 10 or 11 inches high, dark hair and eyes, roman nose, good looking. He was driving a coach at Dandenong, about twelve years ago, and about seven years ago he was at Omeo, and then stated his intention of going either to Sydney or New Zealand.—o.4so3, 21st July, 1877.
