EaraiSEaram P. 7. Tartan "Micronized" Dieldrin Sheep Dust Contains 3% "Micronised" Dieldrin prepared as a flocculant type dust for application to sheep for control of Keds and Lice and to give protection against Blowfly Strike. APPLICATION: The dust should be applied only with a HOWRY-BERG or similar pressure dusting machine. Its use in machines with poor feed mechanism ’or poor air delivery must be avoided at all costs otherwise erratic parasite control will result. DOSAGE: The optimum dosage is l-l| ozs. of dust per sheep: that is 10-15 sheep per pound. This rate may only be reduced in special circumstances, namely treatment of short woolled sheep in the Summer for Keds and Lice only. Reduced dosage will NOT give positive Flystrike protection. CONTROL OF KEDS: A single dusting is effective in eradicating Keds even on heavily infested longwoolled sheep. CONTROL OF LICE: Heavy infestations of Lice can normally be controlled with one dusting. Treatment within three months of shearing is preferable but not essential. Winter applications must be at full strength. BLOWFLY STRIKE: A single dusting thoroughly applied will give several weeks' protection (usually six weeks and upwards). Repeat treatments may be necessary during prolonged or widely spaced periods of attack. GENERAL DIRECTIONS: Dust coverage must be thorough, especially to get Flystrike protection. Machine maintenance and set up is an important factor here. See Bulletins G. 5 and E.I. Avoid drift of dust on to crops or pastures where bees are working or which may be used for grazing or foodstuffs. Dogs should not be allowed through the dust race more than once. TOXICITY: Dieldrin is a noxious substance and protective clothing and precautions listed on the label must be followed. A respirator recommended by the Department of Health should be worn when the operator is unable to keep out of dust drift. PACK: 56 lb. cases. I case treats approx. 560 sheep.
