Haymaking at Paradise, Central Otago, near the head of Lafye Wafyatipu. This area is Well fynown to tourists for its outstanding scenery, and the view on this month’s cover looking toward the mountains on the western side of the Dart River emphasises the ruggedness of the country. Sheep and cattle are run in the district and the severe winters compel farmers io save as much pasture as possible for feeding out to stocl(, especially when snow lies on the ground. Photograph by R.
