This Month's Cover
A pastoral scene in the Hiwira Valley, in the upper Rangitikei district, is the subject of this month’s cover, which has been reproduced from a colour photograph by National Publicity Studios. In the Rangitil(ei district are some of the most prosperous and picturesque pastoral lands of New Zealand. Hill country sheep farming predominates, and methods of management vary from intensive to semi-intensive according to climate and soil cover, as determined by topography, soil type, and altitude. The surrounding farmlands are noted for the quality of their breeding and store stock, which is keenly sought by buyers from the Waikato and Hawke’s Bay districts. Wool, fat lambs, and to a less extent dairy produce are additional items of farm revenue. New Zealand Department of Agriculture HEAD OFFICE: .
