Upper Excessively large and deep brands. The number on this hide spread about 12in. and the letters at right were burnt deeply into the hide. Brands should be kept as near as possible to the minimum required by the Stock Act. LowerA bend, the best part of a hide, showing long barbed wire scratches. Such damage restricts the use to which the leather can be put and increases the cost, of finishing the leather.
