Axl if DOMINION OF NEW ZEALAND • LonwardT - A MORE FOR BRITAIN Announcing facilities for sending more food to Britain by the voluntary saving of food coupons Many people have requested some official channel through which they could send in unused food coupons, meat and butter co ipons in particular, with the assurance that the food thus saved would definitely be sent to Britain. It is a fact that when meat and butter coupons are not used by anyone in N.Z., the food they represent is then definitely available for export. When sugar and tea coupons also remain unused they enable N.Z. to draw on less from overseas and so make more available for others. Accordingly, as an aid to those people who wish to make some voluntary effort to help world food supplies, the Minister of Supply has announced that— -1 People wishing voluntarily to save food in this way can do so by sending unused food coupons to their local Rationing Officer or to an authorised collecting organisation. 2 Unused food coupons being sent to a Rationing Officer should be placed in a sealed envelope, together with a statement setting out the name of the sender,' how many of each kind of coupon are enclosed, and (when butter coupons are sent) the name of the retailer with whom registered. 3 Envelopes should be clearly addressed as follows —“ More for Britain”, Rationing Officer, (and name of your town). 4 Envelopes should be handed in at your nearest Pc~t Office, or posted. 5 If you are a member of an organisation which has been authorised to collect coupons (organisations will advise their members on this point) you can give your coupons to the Secretary, in envelopes, together with the information set out in (2) above. 6 Coupons should not be sent to either the Rationing Officer or to an organisation until AFTER they have expired. This is necessary so that no unauthorised use could possibly be made of coupons and so nullify your self-denial. It would be preferable for coupons to be sent in during the week following the end of each 4-weekly ration period. 7 No money should be sent. The cash value of the coupons 5 is NOT required just the coupons themselves. Use your full rations if you need them but whenever you can spare some send in your unused food coupons as outlined above (AFTER they have expired) or destroy them yourself. Do not give them to friends or hand them to your retailer. The food represented by meat and butter coupons can go to Britain only if the coupons are not used by anyone in New Zealand.
