Farm houses increase in size as the family grows and prospers. The photograph at bottom right shows a house of the type with two additional rooms at the verandah corners. The others are “before and after” studies of a house which has been added to several times over a period of years; plans showing these additions are shown adjacent to the photographs. The order of the additions was: (1) verandah built round house; (2) passage extended, additional bedroom built, sitting room enlarged; (3) new kitchen built; (4) new bathroom built, former bathroom converted to pantry; and finally (5) an additional bedroom built.
