NEW DAIRY SUPPLY CONTROL ORDER GAZETTED

A NEW Dairy Supply Control Order coverANEW Dairy Supply Control Order coverZk ing the delivery of supplies from farm dairies for the manufacture of butter and cheese during the 1945-46 season commencing on August 1 was notified in the Gazette of duly 5.

The new Order, the Dairy Supply Control Order 1945, replaces the Dairy Supply Control Order 1942, and provides for a relaxation of the restriction imposed by the 1942 Order whereby supplies from farm dairies of milk or cream to butter factories were tied to particular butter factories. Under the new Order all butter suppliers during the 1944-45 season may, if they so desire, transfer the supply from their dairies to any other butter factory, so long as the owner of the particular butter factory to which they desire to deliver supplies is not prohibited from receiving the supply by any Order for the time being in force made by the Executive Commission of Agriculture. Any contemplated change should be made before August 1 in the North Island, or before September 1 in the South Island, or when making the first delivery during the 1945-46 season. Having commenced delivery of supplies to a butter factory, butter suppliers and their successors in occupation must continue to supply the selected butter factory for the whole of the 1945-46 manufacturing season. At the end of the 1945-46 season and at the close of any subsequent manufacturing season butter suppliers are at liberty to make a further change if they so desire, to operate from the commencement' of the next manufacturing season, subject to the above-mentioned restrictions. Butter suppliers may not, however, transfer the supply from their dairies to a cheese factory during the currency of the new Order.

The former restrictions imposed on supplies of milk from farm dairies to cheese factories are retained. Cheese factory suppliers have the option of continuing delivery of supplies from their dairies to the cheese factory that was supplied during the 1941-42 season, or of transferring the supply to a butter factory.
