Lambing Estimates for 1941

Greatest Number of Ewes on Record And Highest Lambing Percentage

FOR the first time in the history of the Dominion the estimated lambing percentages have exceeded 90 per cent, for two years in succession, and this year’s estimated percentage of 91.11 is the highest yet recorded. The number of breeding ewes is also a record. Never before has the recorded number of breeding ewes exceeded 20,000,000. In the last five years the South Island returns have been consistently higher than those from the North Island, but this year the North Island has experienced a good season, while the South Island figures have been well sustained.
