Rugby Football Match

Kakepuku Y.F.C. FOOTBALL match between Kakepuku Y.F-C. and Otorohanga Y.F.C. was played at Island Reserve, Otorohanga, on May 22. Two very evenly matched teams took the field, and Mr. D. Hemera was the referee. A. Bell crossed the line shortly before ■ half-time for Otorohanga’s first try. R. Perreal converted. Kakepuku quickly replied with a fine try by A. Cleaves, who also converted. After half-time both teams found difficulty in handling a greasy ball, but after a forward rush by Otorohanga, R. Chilcott scored. L. Strawbridge failed to convert.
Otorohanga repeated these tactics, and A. Bell again scored. R. Perreal’s kick failed. Kakepuku rallied, however, and a few minutes before fulltime E. Hopking scored for Kakepuku. A. Cleaves failed to convert. The final score was: Otorohanga 11, Kakepuku 8. Otorohanga entertained the visitors to afternoon tea. Mr. B. Boswell thanked their hosts on behalf of Kakepuku Y.F.C., and all present voted the day a great success. Mr. D. W. McCormick replied on behalf of Otorohanga Y.F.C.
