Lucerne Hay Chaff for Poultry.

“ ECONOMY ” (METHVEN) To-day wheat, pollard, and bran are expensive foods for poultry. I have some particularly good lucerne hay baled. Will you please advise me to what extent it might be used chaffed to mix with the morning mash for hens and for ducks. Chief Poultry Instructor : I have used up to 20 per cent, of good lucerne chaff with morning mash for hens and ducks. Some poultry-keepers soak the chaff in water overnight, while others place the chaff in buckets and pouf hot water over it and allow it to soak for half an hour before mixing with the mash. I prefer the latter method. ■s s ■> “5»
