High Prices for Hay.
A SHORT of hay in the Manawatu this winter resulted in very high prices. Two - year - old threshed rye and clover hay was sold at ios. per ton. For some exceptionally
good clover hay harvested from a contract white clover area at the end of November last an offer of Z 7 per ton was made, but the farmer would not sell it. He obtains good results from this hay for feeding of
stud Romney hoggets. Both prices mentioned were for baled hay. Average baled , ~ + b t Z t ay so a a ou £4 per on. £ 4.
