Hemp Prices.— The Department has received the following cablegram, dated 10th January, 1919, from the High Commissioner, London: War Office notifies that owing to decline market values in Philippine Islands, and also reduced transport charges, Government issue prices of all grades manila hemp have been revised. New prices: J, K, L, M, others in proportion. These apply to allocations dated on or before 15th November. Hemp Controller states that it was not considered necessary at same time to al er maximum price of New Zealand and St. Helena hemp, and sisal, which are influenced by manila prices, but it is proposed cancel maximum - prices order relating to these in the near future.
