WARNING TO PURCHASERS OF BASIC SLAG.
It has recently come under the notice of the Department that low-grade basic slag, containing only about 10 per cent, phosphoric acid, is being imported, the fertilizer being sold in terms of tricalcic phosphate, 22 per cent. This is probably misleading to the purchasers, who may think that they are buying a slag containing 22 per cent, phosphoric acid (anhydride), which would be equal to 48 per cent, of tricalcic phosphate. Importers and purchasers of basic slag are strongly advised to carefully examine their invoice certificates, and, if in any doubt as to the quality of the slag, to have an analysis made, for which a fee of £1 Ils. 6d. will be charged.
