SUCCESSFUL VICTORIAN TRAINER.
Jack Holt, the successful Victorian trainer, included in whose team is the crack four-year-old Eudorus gelding Eurythmic. put up a remarkable record during the Caulfield Cup meeting last month. In addition to Eurythmic’s double victory in the Caulfield Stakes (£llOO to winner) and Caulfield Cup (£5OOO to winner), horses trained by J. Holt accounted for three other races, the total sum won by his charges, amounting to £9750 out of a total of £19,250 distributed by the club,. For three seasons in succession Holt has headed the winning trainers’ list in Victoria, and indications point to him again occupying that proud position at the end of the present season. In addition to. Eurythmic’s series of victories this season other notable wins registered by horses trained by J. Holt iiiclude the Australian Steeplechase with Kinlark, and the Caulfield with Midilli.In the past Holt has been unlucky in big races, one of his biggest wins being the Mobnee Valley Cup with Telecles. Holt, in addition to being a painstaking trainer, carefully selects the races ,for his charges, and believes in ’"any price is a good price” about what he considers is a fair thing; and as he trains for some very wealthy men, he can afford to follow his policy.
