Conway in the saddle. Matakianga bolted from his track mate, registering 37 2-ssec. for three furlongs. Savourneen jumped a few orush hurdles alone. N. Cunningham had Crowhurst and the Thurnham —Miss Modesty two-year-old doing easy pace work. Jolie Princess sprinted three furlongs in company with another in 39sec„ without the full pressure being on. Flowing Bowl ran . a short mile in Imin. 45sec., completing the circuit easily, beating Golden Petal. Sir Agnes showed plenty of pace, defeating a companion, the last four furlongs taking 50 3-ssec. Isingarch, Gold Plane and Hopye ran home in that order after completing a mile in Imin. 49sec., heads separating the trio at the finish. Peneton should strip well at the Whangarei meeting. He completed two tan circuits on Saturday morning, finishing the last three furlongs ip 40sec. The spectacular gallop of the morning was between Bitholia and Prince Charleroi. With a “fly,” they registered 48 2-ssec. for four furlongs, being on terms at the finish. Formalin easily beat Otara, Herschies, Lovelight, and another. Mountain Gold beat his track assistant decisively over six furlongs in Imin. 17 3-ssec. Comedy Prince galloped a short course attractively alone. Lady Glissando acted as ‘pacemaker for Te Oro, getting a good start at the seven-furlong disc. The big bay just lasted long enough to register imin. 31 3-ssec. The mare pulled off after going four furlongs. Lombardy -rapped the brush hurdles pretty hard, but stood on his feet when negotiating four obstacles. Recreation and Lightning finished together over a sprint. Middlemark easily settled Scottish Knight and three others over four furlongs in 50 sec. Maira and Gladwin worked on the tan. The big gelding Finkop left three furlongs behind in 37sec., being, ridden out. Marble Craig settled the Chances of Rekatoa in a sprint, the last four furlongs taking 51 3-ssec. Multiplane wound up the schooling work, baulking persistently, and would not follow his schoolmaster’s lead.
