St. Frusquin is one of the best racehorses and sires of winners and winner producers in England. Catgut is an illustrious mare, with six of her progeny winners, JJAY Comet, his full brothers, Quinologist and Planet, and his half brothers, Cattagat and Violoncello, conspicuous performers in England. Day Comet has already two winning representatives. Lacantius, sire of Catgut, was an excellent performer, winning the Great Kingston Two - year - old Plate, Earl Spencer Piate at ’ Northampton and Electric Stakes, in which he beat Signcrina a head; and as a sire proved a success. In conformation, he much resembled Day Comet. ARCHIESTOWN (IMP.) (SIR ARCHIBALD —CRAIGELLACHIE) Sir Archibald was a conspicuous success on the turf, and for several years past has been largely represented on the winning list. Desmond, his greatsire, got Demosthenes amongst other great sons. Craigellachie won seven races, and her sons, Scotch Duke 16, and Archiestown 7 at two, three, four and five years old, and 5 times over hurdles, beating Waterbed (voted the best hurdle horse in England), conceding him a 71b.
