With the grass open before breakfast on Thursday a lot of useful work was done, but a slight fog enveloped, the posts. Troublesome and Koura gave a clean exhibition of fencing over J the sod wall double fences and stone wall, and repeated over the sod wall wate” jump and stone wall. Mr. Ben. Myers finished up the jumping session- by giving his favourite hunter, Bowler, a round over the big hurdles. The old hunter seemed to enjoy the bout as much as the owner. Kerehone ran a sound gallop over a mile and a-quarter, being assisted over the last round by Oak Abbey. The time registered was lmin. 59 3-ssec. Jolie Princess headed Some Fashion and Wish Wynne on the post from a standing start in a five furlongs flutter,. which occupied lmin. 6sec. Golden Rain defeated her stable companion in a short sprint. She seems to have more pace than Sunny River, and is a beautifully shaped little filly. Comedy Prince had a short head victory over Bitholia and Sir Ralph in a round of the grass. It was an excellent gallop, the last-named being beaten off. They were timed to run lmin. 55sec. Loyal Irish ran away from Koodoo down the two-year-old track. ■ Gold Plane and Clonmel ran over . four Jurlongs nicely in 51 2-ssec. RathIm beat- Llansannor and another over six furlongs in lmin. 20 4-sse?. Windorah, who was looked upon as being very backward, downed- Formalin and King Mark over six furlongs in lmin. 22 l-ssec. He has thickened into a shapely sort, and is a nice mover. Golden Bubble left half a mile behind m 51sec.

Carmen Sylva, formerly owned and trained by the late P, Jones, is in work . again.

Miss Melba carried too many guns for Esplanade over a sprinting course Lady Gwen took lmin. 27sec. to cover six furlongs, alone. Miss Muriel beat a couple of companions in a short

sprint. . Gluetanus moved attractively once round the grass. Koura and Troublesome were bowling along attractively in the order named at the end of a grass circuit, in 2min. 7 l-ssec. Isingarch and another registered 1 min. 24 -l-ssec. for six furlongs. Pepin reversed Thursday’s gallop when he was badly beaten by Prince Charleroi. Pepin ran the half mile in 51 3-ssec., the Prince taking 53 3-ssec. Blue Cross had Te Oro in a tangle over the last round of the grass in the fair time of lmin. 56sec. Te Oro went ten furlongs.

John Bunny led Mary Bruce and Royal Regal over four of the schooling battens. Golden Petal and Mentmore well beaten over a flight of the schooling battens, and then ran a solid grass circuit alone. Julian’s hunter, Kopurahi, had the best of the jumping in company with St. Carl over the hurdles and steeplechase fences. The former has greatly improved in his schooling work. Keystone put a lot of daylight between Jiimself and his sparring partner, Master Ralph, and another over the battens, and should beat more than beats him at Avondale.

Hopye finished up the jumping session over the steeplechase fences in the centre, and then brushed over six furlongs in lmin. 26sec.

The before breakfast session on Tuesday was spoilt by the heavy weather. Emerald Hill galloped six furlongs in lmin. 22 l-ssec., finishing undera pull. Miss Ellice settled the chances of a companion at the end. of half a mile in 49 3-ssec. The track was fast on account of the rain. • ■ -

Some Boy 11., anxious to extend himself, was restricted to a couple of rounds on the sand at an easy pace.

Geoffrey was galloping attractively till the saddle slipped on to his neck, and his pilot had to ease him up. After the breakfast interval the rain came down in torrents, which delayed the work till after nine o’clock. Mentmore easily held Julian’s hunter in a sand circuit in 2min. 11 3-ssec. General Stephens and Gluetanus worked attractively, going once round the sand, registering 2min. 4 4-ssec., and finishing in the order written. Miss Muriel sprinted over four furlongs in 50 4-ssec. in company with another. Gazique moved scratchily in a sand circuit. He looks over-done. Glen Canny, who has been missing from the tracks for several days, was joined by Comedy Prince and Bitholia, the trio finishing in the order named.. The last seven furlongs of the mile was clocked to be run-in lmin. 31 2-5 sec. Report says Glen Canny may not start at Avondale. Peneton galloped away from Hypothesis and Hessian over two rounds. He left the last half mile behind in 52 l-ssec., on the sand. Te Oro put up the best seven furlongs of the, morning. He bolted away from his pacemaker in lmin. 30 l-ssec. Finkop, alone, had a credit of lmin. 6 3-ssec. from the old five furlongs post. Prince Charleroi gave his stable companion, Pepin, a start and a ba,d beating over five furlongs in a tick under lmin. 3sec. —lmin. 2 4-ssec. Llansannor gave his best showing to date, putting the six furlongs past in lmin. 17 3-ssec„ his track companion taking lmin. 18 3-ssec. Rae’s trio. Tenacious, Maira, and Gladwin, finished in this order over a tan circuit. The veteran E. J. Rae was riding in the heat. The time was 2min. 2 3-ssec., the track being very heavy. Lady Energy led Monocrat and a companion from the six furlongs disc in the moderate time of lmin. 21 3-ssec.
