The final round of the preliminary competition was disputed between America and the British Isles, the former winning by 5 matches to love, 15 sets to 7. Holland having withdrawn from the competition, the United States will now play Australasia, the holders of the Davis Cup, in the challenge round at the Domain, Auckland, in December next.
